“Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.” ~ Stephen King

“Monsters” is the third collection by Faerian Gallery, following our previous themes of “Light” and “Humanity”. This exhibition aims to bring to life the concept of monsters as manifestations of our deepest fears within imaginary worlds.

The exhibition will unfold in three phases:

◆ Phase 1 (November - December 2024): A webpage on Faerian’s website will invite the public to anonymously submit their deepest fears or nightmares through short texts. These submissions will be collectively displayed on the site.

◆ Phase 2 (December 2024 - January 2025): Curating artworks that align with these fears, either from the gallery’s portfolio of pre-selected artists or from newly created pieces inspired by the submissions.

◆ Phase 3 (February 2025): The unveiling of the curated artworks to the public at the Uncommon Gallery in Seoul, marking a collective catharsis.

"My Necropolis is a realm of Lovecraftian ruins, chambers, passageways and middens filled with demons, devils, machine gods, diabolic angels and dark sorcery.
The art here is about my own journey through this Necropolis, and the personal transformations I experienced. I had discovered what Jung called ‘shadow work’.
Shadow work is a realm where we become more aware of our darker selves - those parts of us that we are perhaps conditioned to hide. We are taught that our darker selves are wrong, bad, even evil. But, potent parts of ourselves lie in those shadows - parts of our courage, our pain, our humanity. If they remain hidden, denied, we can never be truly whole. This is a body of work that changed both me and my art forever.
‘In darkness we are forged.’"
